MAX 2005 - Day 2
Bright eyed and bushy tailed! We are off to our first day of sessions.
The first session introduced the up and coming Flash Light, with new and improved Actions Script 2.0. We learned how to develop sleek and simple video applications and how to test them in the built-in flash mobile emulator.
The second session I attended was an introduction to captivate. This session demonstrated the power of captivate. I was particularly impressed with the ability to create a multimedia presentation or a quiz with just a few clicks of your mouse.
Prior to lunch we attend the Keynote. Macromedia and Adobe CEOs demonstrated their commitment to their growing customer base. They alluded to a very interesting future. The merger of Macromedia and Adobe is still pending.
One of the more interesting sessions was “Web and Downloadable Game Development Using Macromedia Tools”. Presenter Steve Zehngut has built has developed an impressive resume by creating web and CD-ROM based games for most of the major companies in the entertainment business. After exploring some of the games his company has developed, we discussed some elements of good game design, as well as some of the major flaws in web and downloadable games development.
My celebrity moment was when I meet the Macromedia Director Project Manager. I know that is very nerdy of me. However, he assured me that Macromedia Director is NOT being replaced by Flash; both pieces of software have different capabilities. Until flash can do what director does, could be in several years, Director will still be around.
The last session I attended was “Creating more maintainable sites with CSS” Interesting session with a lot of information, maybe to much. However I did get to see some of the new Dreamweaver 8 CSS features in action. Very Cool! Can’t wait for the upgrade.
After a long day of session we strolled to downtown Disney. For evening images check out the gallery.
