Opera 8.5
Opera is now available for free and without advertising. They must want to give Firefox and IE a run for their money. After a quick download and install Opera appears to be very user friendly, robust and customizable.
One feature that I liked from the old Opera is the ability to tab browser windows. It contains an integrated Google field and browser window zooming. A neat little feature is the trash bin, if you close a browser window, you can quickly reference the page inside the bin. For and additional 10 MB download you can enjoy voice controlled browsing. Tightly integrated browser-community features such as: blogs, photo albums, groups and forums are available. Opera allows you to build session and save them for later use. I have not tried their integrated mail client, but it may prove to be useful. Opera appears to have several built in applications that are available only for download on other browsers.
I am happy to see Opera get back in the browser game. It will be interesting to see what level of support they have for third party development. Lets hope their security standards are on par with their crisp new look. I will continue using Opera. In the mean time download a copy and let me know what you think.

I’m impressed by the new interface in Opera, which makes even FIrefox’s default skin seem just a little dated. Elegant and minimal. The idea of sessions in a browser is interesting, and I like how Opera remembers the last page you were on when you restart it. A worthy alternative.

I’m wondering when Google will be launching their browser…and their operating system?

Funny you should mention that! How ever I don’t think Google wants to develop an OS. But what do I know.
