Hurricane Coverage

The Southeast is on high alert after Hurricane Katrina battered Louisiana and Mississippi. With Ophelia looming in the Pacific, 230 miles outside of Charleston, SC. ETV delivered a preventive report for the people of South Carolina.

I was asked to participate in this live event, which delivered a status report on the current hurricane conditions and the state’s emergency preparations. My role was to deliver a brief capsule of information in Spanish. I am pleased I could help under these special circumstances. I used my Spanish skills to inform the Latino population about the impending hurricane and established emergency plans. I also had the opportunity to work with many talented individuals before, during and after the live television show experience. So far it looks like Ophelia may move further north; let’s hope she moves out to sea.

Hi Alex!
Thanks for linking me on your friend section! Your extra efforts to reach out in friendship and over all non-selfishness always moves me. Also thanks for mentioning out Hurricane Katrina coverage, beacause it would have been ashame if I drove 30 hours non stop for first hand coverage. Thanks for helping spread a unique local voice while we tried to raise money for Katrina victims. Thanks again for being so supportive and such a great friend! (And of course for mentioning columbiacitypaper. )
