Pre-Mexico Trip
This trip is part of our documentary profiling Hispanics in South Carolina. In order to better understand our new neighbors, we feel it’s important to travel to their native country and visit their communities. We fly into Leon, Guanajuato, Mexico for four days. We hope to establish a connection with some folks in Leon. The people in Leon have not seen their family members in 8 years since they moved to the US. From Leon we travel to Xalapa, Veracruz. In Xalapa, we hope to identify the sources of why so many emigrants from Veracruz leave their localities and relocate to the south-east. I hope it will be an enlightening experience. While I grew up in Mexico, I have never visited Xalapa and southern Mexico. I should have plenty of photos to share.
